THIS POST ENDED UP BEING KINDA LONG. Just fair warning. :)

Wow.

I’m not gonna lie, I’m still reeling from tonights results show.

IT WAS INSANE!!

I was so stoked when the top 12 sang Runaway Baby, because that is my favorite song right now.

Then, I thought when John Fogerty performed with Phil, that was going to be the highlight of the night for me.

And then we have Fantasia.

Yikes.

The Top 12 Girls did a great number with the amazing Chaka Khan, and I was impressed with who American Idol was able to round up for tonight. Not bad.

Now, I’m not really a huge fan of Rihanna’s, but she really impressed me, and I liked the new song.

The big names kept coming as Reba graced the stage. She and Skylar did a fantastic duet. Loved it.

Jessica’s repeat of I Will Always Love You was really, really good. But not Whitney.

The Top 12 Guys did a nice job with their number. I didn’t really dig the first song, and I wanted to hear Colton sing more.

THEN THEY SANG A MONKEES SONG!!!! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Neil Diamond was the icing on the cake with Sweet Caroline.

At this point, I didn’t think it could get much better. I mean, come on!!

The singing the phone book skit was cute. And I loved that Colton and Joshua broke out in giggles at the end. But again, could have had more Colton singing.

The Fly Girl has returned! JLo busted out her dance moves, and I actually really liked both songs. I’m going to have to get this new album from the library and put it on my iPod.

Now, Diana deGarmo was my choice to win Season 3. That proposal was so cute!! But, as soon as Ryan asked them to come up on stage I knew why.

Hollie and Jordin were really the only flat moment for me. But, I did come to realize that Jordin Sparks is a better singer than I remember.

The tribute to Robin Gibb was nice, but I would have liked it more if they had sang more familiar songs. And, more Colton. (noticing a theme here?)

Okay. So, I prefer Phillip Phillips’s style, sound, and music over Jessica Sanchez. But there is no argument that she is an amazing singer. Her duet with Jennifer Holliday was truly remarkable. Like, one of the best performances I have ever seen. I think that it will be an Idol moment, hell a world moment, for years and years and years. Flawless.

It’s not really fair to Aerosmith to have to follow that. They tried to redeem themselves after the disaster of their first song with “Walk This Way,” but it was in vain.

Jessica’s and Phillips duet was sweet. I was impressed that they found a song that complemented both of their voices.

And then the results.

To be honest, right up until Ryan announced the winner, I didn’t know who was going to win. Usually, there is a feeling one way or the other for me, but not this year. I thought I wanted Jessica to win, so Phillip could release an album American Idol guidance free, but when Ryan said he won, I WAS SO EXCITED!!

And the fact that he couldn’t finish the song, and then went to group hug his family, cemented it for me. Phillip Phillips is the only person I wanted to win (if Colton couldn’t win it).

American Idol took me on a ride this year that I didn’t expect. I got angry, I was sad, I was invested, I was happy, I was rockin’…I loved it. :)

So, here’s my opinion. (For all those who didn’t ask for it)

I think that Jessica should win American Idol.

Allow me to explain.

I prefer Phillip Phillips style. I prefer his voice. I prefer pretty much everything about him. But I also know that he does his own thing, and trying to get him to release his first album with the “guidance” of American Idol, makes me more than a little anxious.

We know he is going to release an album. Duh. But I would like him to take second place, so he has more freedom with the musical direction and content of his first album, and I will be hearing HIM.

Besides, I still think it’s rigged and they wanted a girl to win. Just saying.

American Idol tried to sell us on bromances between Phillip and Colton, Phillip and Joshua. But only because this one happened. On it’s own. A true friendship. :)
